The perfect staycation journey on horseback for those who love animals and seeking for a new experience.
After signing the waiver (included in your package), the guest will be instructed on safety and behaviors during the ride. Short horseback riding training would be provided right before the journey. When the all group will mount their horses the journey will begin. Enjoy calm riding on the lovely tree-lined fields and forests that surround Oakville.
The Ranch opened The Ranch in 1981 and has been creating great experiences in the saddle in the 30 years since. They are one of that last public riding facilities left in the GTA, and the reason is that they offer safe, fun, first experiences for all ages, as well as a range of services for more experienced riders from beginner to advanced lessons, to memberships, to boarding.
Appropriate footwear is a must! A riding boot is the gold standard, but any shoe with a small heel will do. DO NOT wear flip flops or sandals! Long pants are also recommended, and its good to keep in mind that it can be a good deal cooler/colder at The Ranch as we usually have a windchill you won’t feel in the city. Bug spray and sunscreen are also (seasonally) a good idea.
We ride rain or shine (though you don’t have to), but we DO cancel rides during thunderstorms. This activity is also footing dependent, so extreme ice or mud can also keep us in the barn – but don’t worry, we’ll call you to let you know if this is the case.
We do not have a specific weight limit, but as larger riders are assigned larger horses, larger riders need to be physically able to mount a larger horse and stay balanced throughout the ride.
NO, it’s not safe to have more than one person in the saddle at one time.
No. You will need both hands on the reins while riding, and if you drop your camera while riding, you are not permitted to dismount to retrieve it. We will be taking pictures throughout the ride and they will be emailed to you at no charge
YES, but please ask staff which horses you can feed. Not all the horses on the property should be hand-fed treats, AND you’ll need to be careful of the electric fences
NO. Our apologies, but due to safety and liability concerns, our trails are not for public use.
